Nowadays, we see a lot of advertisements on TV and other media such as newspaper and magazines. According to the study conducted by the About-Face Organization, it is found that the average women see 400-600 advertisements a day, and by the time they are teenagers they received over 250,000 commercial messages through the media which direct statement of beauty.

There are 50% of advertisements in teen girls’ magazines and 56% of Television commercials aimed at female viewers used beauty as a product appeal. In advertisements creative directors use some methods to sell products by making people refuse some other products and accept their product instead.

For example, when they want to sell diet food they show people who deny fattening foods and accept their product with a model who is very thin in the advertisement and this method is successful. Therefore this research is to find out how models in TV commercial and other media can influence teenagers’ eating habits by models in advertising. Female teenagers, aged around 13-25 years old who are concerned with slim figures will be easily influenced by models in the ads.

Most of them want to have body like models because they care about their outer appearance and good figures and believe that it can attract the opposite sex. This becomes a trend. The trend in media industry at the present persuades female teenagers to think that women who have skinny body are beautiful. Women of all ages especially young women read at magazines, watch TV, see movies and consume other media which are full of images of girls showing their skinny bodies. And this can be driven deep into the subconscious mind. They would change their attitude about body shape and want to have a body like models in advertisements. The nature of all women often compare themselves with other. Normally, they will feel satisfied with their body and weight until other women who look better than them show up. Some of them may feel bad about their own body after looking at women's magazines.

Therefore, we can assume that models in advertising can influence teenagers especially among female to become anorexic.
